Self-adhesive cable labeling is a simple and frequently used option for the permanent labeling of cables. Self-adhesive cable labels are usually cable labels where the (acrylate) adhesive is already included in the product. One advantage of this cable marking is that the labels can still be applied after the cable has been installed. The cable markers simply need to be stuck to the corresponding cables. In this article, we present the various options for self-adhesive cable labeling.

The KBL self-adhesive cable markers are made from a thin polyester film and have a protective laminate that is glued over the labeling field. This protects the cable marking from environmental influences and makes it very durable. The KBL cable markers can be printed using a conventional laser printer and do not require any special printing accessories, making them ideal for self-labeling. For easy labeling, we supply these cable markers on sheets that can be easily fed by laser printers. The robust markers can withstand temperatures from -20 to +120 degrees without any problems.

Self-laminating cable labels

The KRT2-P0 cable labels with protective laminate are extremely durable and robust. Thanks to the polyolefin film (material), they are halogen-free and UV-resistant and can therefore also be used permanently outdoors without any problems. Just like the other Texit cable labels, the KRT2-P0 also have a protective laminate with a crystal-clear acrylic adhesive. They can be used flexibly; for smaller cable diameters, the excess laminate film can simply be cut off at the perforation point. These labels are also printed using a thermal transfer printer.

Marking cables with the help of cable labels and cable ties is also one of the most frequently used options for cable labeling. Cable labels for permanent cable marking are made of plastic (or stainless steel for extreme requirements) and are available in different sizes.

Depending on the product, the labels can be printed using a thermal transfer printer or labeled by hand. They are then attached to the cables using cable ties. This method therefore also makes it possible to mark cables and lines that have already been installed. In addition, the writing field is not necessarily limited by the cable diameter.

Self Laminating Cable Markers

The self-laminating KRT-P cable markers are made of vinyl film (PVC material) and, just like the other Texit cable labels, are provided with a protective laminate which is glued over the text field during installation. This protects the cable labeling from environmental influences. The KRT-P are self-adhesive and can be applied even after the cable has been installed. They are suitable for a wide range of diameters and are printed using a thermal transfer printing process.

Heat shrink marker

Heat-shrink tubing is not self-adhesive, as it does not require any adhesive. When exposed to heat, the material shrinks around the cable and thus adapts to the individual diameter. A major advantage of shrink sleeve markers is that they are one of the most robust and durable methods of labeling cables.

Self-adhesive cable flags

Cable flags are also very suitable for self-adhesive cable labeling. The KFT-V cable flags are provided with a permanently adhesive acrylate adhesive. Thanks to the soft PVC film (vinyl material), they adapt very well to different cable diameters and can be used permanently in a temperature range of -40 to +90 degrees Celsius. Please note that cable flags require more space than cable labels due to their design. Otherwise, they are ideal for permanent cable labeling.

FAQ Self-adhesive cable labeling

Which materials are best suited for self-adhesive cable labels?

Labels or shrink sleeves are generally used for self-adhesive cable markings. Labels are made of various materials such as vinyl, polyester or paper and can be selected depending on the application. Shrink sleeves are usually made of polyolefin and shrink when heated to fit tightly around the cable. As a manufacturer of cable labeling, we will be happy to advise you on the right sizes.

How do I choose the right size for my self-adhesive cable labels?

The size of the labels depends on various factors, including the cable diameter and the space available. It is important to ensure that the labels are easy to read and can be securely attached to the cable. There should also be enough space on the products for all the required data.

How is self-adhesive labeling applied to cables?

The application depends on the material chosen. Labels are simply stuck onto cables or wires, while heat-shrink tubing is pushed over the cable and then heated so that it contracts and adheres to the cable.

What are the advantages of self-adhesive labeling for cables?

Self-adhesive cable labels increase organization and safety in electrical systems. They facilitate maintenance and troubleshooting, reduce downtimes and contribute to compliance with safety regulations. During installation, they also offer the advantage that they can be used on cables that have already been installed.

Are self-adhesive cable labels weather-resistant?

The weather resistance depends on the materials used (e.g. polyester, polyether polyurethane, polyolefin). Some labels and shrink sleeves are specially designed for use in harsh environments and can withstand moisture or water, UV rays, solvents, oil, alcohol and temperature fluctuations. Be sure to select the right materials with the right properties for your specific application. At Texit, most items are robust and weather-resistant, as they have been specially developed for permanent cable labeling (>10 years). You can rely on the help of our long-standing labeling experts when making your selection.

Are there any special regulations or standards for self-adhesive cable labels?

Yes, there are certain industry standards and regulations that govern the labeling of cables, especially in safety-critical areas. It is important to follow these regulations and ensure that your labeling meets the appropriate standards.

The selection and proper labeling of cables is crucial to operating electrical systems efficiently and ensuring safety. If you have any further questions about cable labeling and selecting the right materials and sizes, our labeling experts will be happy to help.

How long does the delivery of self-adhesive cable labeling take?

The delivery and thus the actual delivery time depends on your order on the one hand and on our stock availability on the other.
